Young Man Arrested in Keshabpur with Counterfeit Currency Equipment

In a significant crackdown, the Rapid Action Battalion-6 (RAB-6) has arrested a 25-year-old man, Abu Hanif, in Keshabpur, Jashore, for possessing counterfeit currency along with an extensive array of equipment used to produce fake notes. The operation took place on Monday (22 December) in the Magurkhali Bazar area of the upazila.

According to RAB-6 sources, a specialised team from the Satkhira Camp (CPC-1) conducted the raid following a tip-off. Abu Hanif was apprehended in a suspicious manner, and a subsequent search of his belongings revealed counterfeit notes worth 81,800 Taka. In addition to the currency, various tools and equipment intended for producing fake banknotes were also seized.

Abu Hanif, a resident of Kandarpur village in Keshabpur, is the son of Surat Ali Molla. During initial questioning, he admitted to being involved in the production and distribution of counterfeit currency. Authorities have launched a thorough investigation to identify other members of the network involved in this illicit trade.

RAB officials emphasised that counterfeit currency poses a severe threat to the national economy.
