Young Man Killed on Narsingdi Tracks

A tragic railway accident in Narsingdi has claimed the life of an unidentified young man who was struck by an intercity train while walking along the tracks. The incident occurred on Sunday morning at approximately 8:45 a.m. near the Bottola Bazar level crossing, a in the area known for frequent pedestrian movement across the railway line.

According to railway police and eyewitness accounts, the victim—believed to be around 25 years old—was was walking along the railway line in an apparently inattentive manner when the From Dhaka to Chittagong Sonar Bangla Express approached the crossing at speed. Sub-Inspector Dilip Chandra Sarkar supervised the inquest proceedings and arranged for the body to be transported to the outpost for further documentation.

The deceased was dressed in dark blue trousers and a black-and-orange shirt, but no identification documents were found on his person. This has complicated efforts to establish his identity. Subsequently, members of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) visited the outpost and collected fingerprints from the body. These will be cross-checked against national databases in an attempt to identify the victim.

Speaking to reporters, Sub-Inspector Sarkar confirmed that the fatality resulted from being struck by the Sonar Bangla Express. He added that all necessary legal procedures were underway and that the body would be sent to the Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination.

Railway Officers noted that unauthorised walking along active railway tracks remains a persistent safety concern across Bangladesh.
