A high-speed motorcycle excursion ended in tragedy on Wednesday night, 7 January 2026, as a triple-vehicle collision claimed the life of a 21-year-old man in the Siddhirganj area of Narayanganj. The incident, which occurred in the Mizmizi Canal Road vicinity, also left at least four others with varying degrees of injury.
Chronology of the Crash
The fatal accident transpired at approximately 9:00 pm at the locality known as “10 Pipe.” The deceased has been identified as Rayatul Islam Robi, a resident of the Paglabari area in Ward 1, and the son of Mohammed Faruk.
According to witnesses, the evening took a violent turn when three motorcycles collided in a complex head-on and secondary impact sequence. Robi and his associates were reportedly travelling towards Jalkuri at an excessive velocity. As they navigated the canal-side road, they struck a motorcycle carrying a couple and their young child travelling from the opposite direction. A third motorcycle, belonging to Robi’s group, was also pulled into the high-energy wreck.
Eyewitness Testimony
Local residents and shopkeepers described a scene of immediate chaos. Milton, a local vendor, noted that the speed of the bikes made a collision almost inevitable. “The deceased was riding at a very high speed, and his friend followed just as fast behind him,” he remarked. “It appeared that Robi simply could not stabilise the bike in time to avoid the oncoming family.”
Shariful Islam, another passerby, confirmed that Robi succumbed to his injuries at the site of the crash before medical assistance could arrive. Among the injured were Robi’s friends, Habib and Bijay, who were transported to hospital in critical condition.

Police Response and Formalities
Sub-Inspector (SI) Bazlur Rahman of Siddhirganj Police Station arrived at the scene shortly after the notification. While two of the motorcycles have been taken into police custody, the whereabouts of the couple and their child remain unknown; it is believed they may have moved to a private clinic for treatment immediately after the shock of the impact.
“We have initiated the necessary legal proceedings and have made contact with the family of the deceased,” SI Rahman stated. “Our current priority is identifying all injured parties and determining if any further vehicles contributed to the loss of control.”
The incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers associated with speeding in residential and canal-side corridors, where visibility and road width are often compromised.
