Tragically, Abdul Mohit Rajon, a 30-year-old resident of Anandpur village in the Gopaya Union of Habiganj Sadar, has lost his life just one month after his wedding. On Sunday, 21 December, local time, Rajon was fatally struck by a speeding lorry while crossing the road in the Yasmin area of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He passed away instantly at the scene.
Rajon, the son of Nur Mia, had recently married in July 2024. According to family sources, he left his newlywed wife behind and travelled to Saudi Arabia in search of better employment opportunities. He had been residing in Riyadh at the time of the accident. The Saudi authorities have already apprehended the lorry driver responsible for the collision.
Gopaya Union Parishad Chairman, Md. Abdul Mannan, confirmed the news and said he visited Rajon’s family home on Monday after learning about the tragedy. He added that a colleague from Brahmanbaria has initiated the process to bring Rajon’s body back to Bangladesh. “I will ensure that the local administration is fully informed and involved,” Mannan stated.
Meanwhile, Fatema Tuz Johra Sania, the Executive Officer of Habiganj Sadar Upazila, remarked that she was not yet fully briefed on the incident but promised to investigate and provide all possible assistance to the bereaved family.
