The Chief Adviser Announces Suspension of Facebook Page

The official Facebook page of the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government has been officially announced as closed. The announcement was made on Wednesday, 18 February, through a post on the verified page of the Chief Adviser.

The post stated that the page, titled “Chief Adviser GOB (Head of the Government)”, will no longer remain active. Expressing gratitude to supporters, the message read: “We sincerely thank everyone for their support, interest, and participation over the past 18 months. Your encouragement, cooperation, and even criticism have made our journey richer and more meaningful.”

The closure comes shortly after a significant political transition in the country. On Tuesday, 17 February, at 4:15 pm, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman was sworn in as the Prime Minister at the South Plaza of the National Parliament. The oath of office was administered by President Md. Sahabuddin.

Earlier in the day, members of the National Parliament took their oaths in two phases. First, MPs elected under the BNP banner were sworn in, followed by members from the 11-party alliance, independents, and other representatives. All were administered the oath by the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A. M. M. Nasir Uddin.

The Chief Adviser’s Facebook page, which was inaugurated on 14 August, quickly became a major platform for government communication and public engagement. Over the course of its 18 months of activity, the page accumulated a significant following, with more than 4.4 million followers engaging with updates, policy announcements, and public statements.
