A shocking incident has left the community of Gatipara village in Sharsha Upazila, Jashore, reeling after a local veterinarian, Al Amin Hossain, 30, was brutally attacked and killed with a sharp weapon. The assault occurred around 10:00 pm on Thursday, near Gatipara Government Primary School, sending ripples of fear through the otherwise quiet village.
Al Amin, widely respected in the area for his dedicated service to livestock care, had been tending to the community’s animals for several years. According to family sources, he was returning home after performing the Taraweeh prayers when unidentified assailants intercepted him on his motorcycle and launched a sudden, violent attack. Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers struck him multiple times with a sharp instrument, leaving fatal injuries.
Local police arrived at the scene around 10:30 pm and recovered the body, which was then sent to Jashore General Hospital for autopsy. Following preliminary formalities, the body is scheduled to be handed over to the family on Friday.
Inspector Shah Alam of Sharsha Police stated, “The victim sustained multiple deep cuts from a sharp weapon. At this stage, it is unclear who is responsible. We are investigating all possible angles of the incident.”
Preliminary investigations indicate that Al Amin’s personal life may have played a role in the murder. Deputy Inspector S.M. Mosharraf Hossain revealed, “Al Amin had two wives, and there were ongoing familial disputes involving his second wife. We are examining whether these conflicts are linked to the killing.”
The local community is deeply alarmed and concerned for their safety. Residents have urged authorities to solve the case swiftly and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
