Song Written for Lucky Akhand Released

In 1998, eminent lyricist Golam Morshed was regularly involved in informal evening musical gatherings at an office in Dhanmondi. The office belonged to him and was a known meeting place for musical discussions within the country’s cultural circles. During one such evening, legendary musician Lucky Akhand composed a tune for a song that had been written for him by Golam Morshed.

However, for various reasons, the song could not be recorded or performed by Lucky Akhand at that time. The song, titled “Jaar Kache Mon Rekhe”, reportedly written and composed 34 years ago, was eventually released on 15 April in the voice of popular singer Tarun Munshi.

According to Golam Morshed, a significant part of his creative work has been associated with Lucky Akhand. He stated that many of his songs were written with the artist in mind. He further explained that after viewing the lyrics of “Jaar Kache Mon Rekhe”, Lucky Akhand himself had composed the music. Despite this, the song was never performed by him. Following Akhand’s passing, the song remained unreleased and was preserved in its existing form.

Morshed also said that the idea of releasing the song remained with him over the years. Eventually, he decided that if the song were to be published as a tribute to Lucky Akhand, it should be performed by an artist capable of maintaining the integrity of its composition. He selected Tarun Munshi for this purpose, expressing confidence in his performance and stating that Munshi had delivered the song effectively.

Tarun Munshi described the opportunity as a significant professional experience. He stated that he had never imagined performing a song associated with Lucky Akhand. According to him, when Golam Morshed approached him with the proposal, he accepted it with appreciation. He added that he had grown up listening to Lucky Akhand’s music and had been influenced by his work. While performing the song, he retained the original composition and adapted his interpretation in line with contemporary musical presentation.

The music video for the song was directed by Rumki Rusa and Mashrur Hossain. It was released through the YouTube channel of the production platform Gaan Janala.
