Dhallywood filmmaker Shihab Shaheen, widely recognised for establishing a distinct voice in romantic storytelling, continues his exploration of contemporary love and urban relationships in his latest feature, Tumi Ami Shudhu. The film reinterprets a familiar romantic framework through a modern, everyday lens, weaving together relatable human experiences with subtle emotional complexity. Since its release, it has generated considerable discussion among audiences, particularly regarding the performances of its two central leads, musicians-turned-actors Pritom Hasan and Jefer Rahman.

Both leads are no strangers to Shaheen’s directorial style. Pritom Hasan previously drew attention for his performances in Kacher Manush Dure Thuiya and the Eid release Cactus, where his on-screen presence was noted for its naturalistic charm. Jefer Rahman, meanwhile, gained early acting experience through Myself Allen Swapan 2, marking her gradual transition into screen performance. Director Shihab Shaheen explained that although principal photography was completed earlier, the film’s release was delayed due to certain technical complications. These issues were eventually resolved, allowing the film to be released during the Bangla New Year period. He characterised the film as a narrative centred on youthful independence, emotional choice, and evolving human relationships.
