Renowned Bangladeshi musician James and Indian rock singer Rupam Islam are scheduled to perform together once again, this time in Australia. Their joint appearance, which follows earlier collaborations that attracted considerable audience attention, will take place as part of a concert titled “Live in Sydney”.
The event is set for 12 September at the Norwest Convention Centre in Sydney, within the state of New South Wales. It is being organised by the Bengali CineClub Australia. Both performers are expected to appear with their respective bands, Nagar Baul and Fossils.
Organisers have indicated that the concert represents a notable occasion for Bengali music audiences in Australia, as joint performances of this scale by leading figures of the genre are uncommon in the region. The programme is expected to include well-known songs associated with both artists, many of which have been popular among listeners in Bangladesh, India, and the wider Bengali diaspora.
Rubaiyat Thakur Robin, manager of James and Nagar Baul, confirmed that arrangements for the event have been finalised following discussions with the organisers. While further details have yet to be disclosed, he noted that preparations are progressing and expressed expectations of a well-organised programme.
Rupam Islam is currently occupied with promotional activities related to his book Bagh Brahma Khela, alongside ongoing performances with his band Fossils. Despite these commitments, he is preparing for the Sydney concert independently. The two artists most recently shared a stage in India during the “Pujowalar Gaan” concert, which remains noted among audiences.
James has continued to perform live despite not releasing new music in recent months. He has stated that he is working on several songs and intends to release them upon completion, although no specific dates have been announced.
Earlier, he performed at a Pohela Boishakh concert held at Edward College in Pabna, organised by Square and Maasranga Television. He has also taken part in concerts across Dhaka, Chattogram, and Tangail. In the previous year, he travelled internationally, performing in countries including the United States and Saudi Arabia for expatriate audiences.
