Barcelona have moved to the brink of securing the La Liga title following a 2–1 victory away to Osasuna on Saturday. Late goals from Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres proved decisive as the Catalan side strengthened their position at the top of the table.
With four matches remaining, Barcelona sit first on 88 points, holding a 14-point advantage over second-placed Real Madrid, who also have a game in hand. Real Madrid are scheduled to visit Espanyol on Sunday. Should Real fail to win that match, Barcelona will be confirmed as La Liga champions for a second consecutive season.
The decisive breakthrough at El Sadar came in the closing stages. In the 81st minute, Marcus Rashford delivered a cross from the right flank, which Lewandowski met with a leaping header to open the scoring. Five minutes later, Ferran Torres doubled the lead after being played through by Fermín López, finishing in a one-on-one situation against the goalkeeper.
Osasuna responded quickly, reducing the deficit two minutes later when Raúl García converted from close range. However, the late strike was insufficient to alter the outcome, as Barcelona maintained their advantage until the final whistle.
Despite the result, Osasuna created several of the more dangerous opportunities during the match. Barcelona goalkeeper Joan García produced a series of notable saves to preserve his side’s lead. In the 35th minute, Ante Budimir struck the post with a close-range effort. Shortly afterwards, García denied another attempt, and in the 69th minute he again intervened to prevent an equaliser.
The match featured three goals scored within a short late spell, ultimately swinging the contest in Barcelona’s favour.
