Dhaka Student Abduction Murder Case

Police have recovered the body of a young man from Madhabpur in Habiganj, in connection with an abduction and murder case originating in Dhaka. The body was discovered on Tuesday morning (5 May) beside the Dhaka–Sylhet Highway, near the vicinity of Andiura Ummatunnesa High School.

The deceased has been identified as Md. Farhad Hossain Mahir (23), son of Abdul Awal of the Chanpara area under Uttar Khan Police Station in Dhaka. He was a student at the Uttara campus of World University.

According to police sources, Farhad was abducted on the night of 30 April by a group of miscreants in a pre-planned manner. He was subsequently taken to a secluded room in the Aftabnagar area under Badda Police Station in Dhaka. Police believe that he was subjected to physical torture before being killed at that location.

Following the incident, the body was transported to Madhabpur in Habiganj. On the morning of 5 May, police recovered the body from the roadside area adjacent to Andiura Ummatunnesa High School along the Dhaka–Sylhet Highway.

A suspect identified as Mridul Sarkar has been arrested in connection with the case. Police have stated that, during preliminary interrogation, he reportedly admitted involvement in the killing.

The body of the deceased has been sent to Habiganj Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination. The Officer-in-Charge of Madhabpur Police Station, Sohel Rana, confirmed the recovery of the body and the overall incident. He also stated that operations are continuing to arrest other individuals believed to be involved in the case.
