A 21-year-old motorcyclist was killed following a collision between a microbus and a motorcycle in Ishwarganj upazila of Mymensingh district.
The incident took place at around 12:00 noon on Saturday (30 May) at Charhosenpur area along the Mymensingh–Kishoreganj highway. The deceased was identified as Mahir (21), son of Abdul Kaiyum of Musalli area in Nandail upazila. He had been living with his parents in the Kalibari Road area of Dattapara village under Ishwarganj municipal town. His father, Abdul Kaiyum Renu, is a grocery shop owner at the Ishwarganj municipal market.
According to local sources, Mahir left home on Saturday morning after waking up and rode his motorcycle around the local area. At that time, his grandmother, Helena Akhter, asked him to have breakfast—bread with meat—before going out. However, he stated that he would eat after returning from a short ride and left home on his motorcycle.
He was later riding at speed across different areas of the town. At approximately 12:00 noon, while travelling along the Mymensingh–Kishoreganj highway at Charhosenpur, his motorcycle collided with a microbus. The impact caused him to be thrown onto the road, leaving him seriously injured.
Locals subsequently rescued him from the scene and took him to Ishwarganj Upazila Health Complex. On arrival, attending doctors declared him dead.
Police from Ishwarganj Police Station later recovered the body and completed the required inquest and legal procedures. As no complaint was lodged by the family, the body was handed over to the relatives, according to Sub-Inspector Wazed Ali of Ishwarganj Police Station.
