Bound Burnt Body Found Kalukhali

A bound and partially burnt body of a young man, identified as Asadul Islam, also known as Asaduzzaman, a worker of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, was recovered by police in Kalukhali upazila of Rajbari district after he had been reported missing for one day.

According to police and family sources, the body was discovered on Monday morning in a jute field near Surjodia Madrasa in the Sunyadia area of Madapur Union. The location lies beside the Chandana River bank in the Bill Manushmari area. Local farmers, while working in the field around 8:00 am, first noticed the body and immediately informed the police and the victim’s family members.

The deceased, aged 24, was the son of Shahjahan Mondal of Bill Manushmari village under Madapur Union in Kalukhali upazila. He was also a final-year degree student at Sonapur Mir Mosharraf Hossain Degree College in Baliakandi upazila. Local representatives of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami stated that he was an active party worker.

Family members reported that Asaduzzaman left his home on Sunday after Asar prayers and subsequently went missing. Around 8:00 pm the same evening, he contacted his brother-in-law, a Saudi Arabia expatriate, requesting urgent financial assistance of BDT 5,000. Shortly after that phone call, his mobile phone was switched off and all communication with his family ceased. The family later informed Kalukhali Police Station at night.

Police recovered the body the following morning after being alerted by locals. Officers confirmed that the victim’s hands and feet had been tied, and there were visible injury marks on the body. Authorities also stated that there were signs suggesting an attempt had been made to burn the body.

Family members, including his cousin Hafezul Islam, along with local resident Russell Mollah, described him as a calm and well-behaved individual. They stated that he had no known disputes or enmity within the locality. They have demanded the swift arrest and exemplary punishment of those responsible.

Madapur Union Jamaat-e-Islami leader Firoz Ahmed confirmed that Asaduzzaman was an active member of the organisation and a final-year college student. He also noted that the young man had been missing since Sunday night before his body was discovered on Monday morning.

Officer-in-Charge Mostafa Kamal of Kalukhali Police Station confirmed the recovery of the body and stated that signs of assault were present. He further added that the body had been partially burnt. After completing the inquest report, the remains were sent to Rajbari Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination. He also confirmed that legal procedures are underway.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (Pangsha Circle) Debabrata Sarkar described the incident as a highly brutal case. He confirmed that a bound and burnt body had been recovered from the jute field and stated that an investigation has been initiated. He further said that efforts are ongoing to identify those involved and bring them under the law as soon as possible.

Authorities have not yet released any confirmed details regarding the motive behind the killing, and the investigation remains ongoing.
