A six-year-old girl was killed and five others, including her parents, were injured in a head-on collision between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a private car on the Dhaka–Narayanganj Link Road in Siddhirganj.
The accident occurred at around 10:00 pm on Friday (19 June) in the Jalkuri Underpass area. The deceased was identified as Sinthia Rahman Humaira (6), daughter of Md. Ashikur Rahman Shamim of Banglabazar area in Munshiganj Sadar Upazila.
According to police and eyewitness accounts, a private car travelling towards Dhaka from the same direction struck the CNG-run auto-rickshaw with force. The impact was severe, leaving the CNG vehicle heavily damaged. The child sustained critical injuries and was taken to hospital by local residents, where she was declared dead on arrival. Five other passengers, including her parents, were also injured in the incident and admitted to various hospitals for treatment.
Following the collision, local residents and police rescued the injured and transported them to medical facilities. Police later reached the scene and brought the situation under control, restoring traffic movement on the road.
Siddhirganj Police Station Sub-Inspector Mofizur Rahman stated that the private car involved in the accident has been taken into police custody. However, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene immediately after the incident.
