A shocking case of sexual assault has emerged from the industrial hub of Ashulia in Savar, where a man has been arrested for raping a 13-year-old girl with the active assistance of his own wife. The harrowing incident took place late on Sunday night in the Naihati neighbourhood under Ashulia jurisdiction. Law enforcement personnel acted swiftly upon receiving alerts from community members, detaining the primary suspect at the scene before local anger could boil over.
According to preliminary details provided by municipal investigators, the minor had stepped out of her residence on Sunday evening to collect water from a public tube-well situated nearby. Seizing upon the vulnerability of the unlit area, the suspect, identified as Poshuram Monidas, ambushed the teenager. Assisted by his wife, Monidas silenced the victim by issuing explicit death threats, effectively neutralising her attempts to scream for help. The couple then dragged the terrified youngster into their adjacent house. Once inside, Monidas subjected the child to a forced sexual assault whilst his spouse actively facilitated the crime, ensuring the doors remained secured against outside interference.
The victim’s subsequent distress calls and sounds of physical struggle eventually alerted neighbours residing in the high-density neighbourhood. Sensing foul play, a group of local residents converged on the property, intercepted the couple, and rescued the traumatised girl. The locals securely detained Monidas inside the house and immediately contacted the emergency police helpline to report the horrific violation.
An operational team from the Ashulia Police Station arrived shortly thereafter to take custody of Monidas, removing him from the area before any vigilante violence could occur. Following the arrest, the victim’s family lodged a formal complaint under the rigorous Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. The case explicitly names both Monidas as the principal perpetrator and his wife as a key accomplice to the aggravated felony.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ashulia Police Station, Mohammad Tariqul Islam, confirmed that police protocols were executed immediately to support the minor. Following her rescue, she was transported directly to the specialized One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Medical professionals at the centre are currently conducting comprehensive physical evaluations, forensic testing, and psychological counselling to document essential legal evidence.
OC Tariqul Islam reaffirmed that the department is treating the case with the highest priority, assuring that zero tolerance will be shown toward crimes involving children. Investigators are currently compiling witness testimonies and forensic details from the crime scene to construct an airtight chargesheet. Local residents in Naihati remain deeply unsettled by the depravity of the crime, with community leaders demanding swift judicial proceedings and maximum legal penalties for both defendants.
