Bangladesh cricket fans have been offered a measure of reassurance following the conclusion of the Indian Premier League auction, with the Bangladesh Cricket Board confirming that star left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman has been granted clearance to feature across the full IPL season. The announcement ends days of speculation surrounding his availability, although the board has attached a clear and firm condition, underscoring its continued commitment to prioritising national duties alongside lucrative franchise engagements.
Mustafizur, widely regarded as one of Bangladesh’s most consistent and tactically astute fast bowlers, attracted significant attention at the auction when Kolkata Knight Riders secured his services for INR 9.20 crore. The figure represents the highest price ever paid for a Bangladeshi cricketer in the IPL, highlighting his enduring reputation in the global T20 marketplace. In the immediate aftermath of the auction, questions naturally arose over whether Mustafizur would receive a full no-objection certificate, given Bangladesh’s packed international schedule and the board’s cautious approach in previous seasons. Addressing those concerns, the BCB confirmed that he has been allowed to participate throughout the IPL, provided he returns home during the tournament to represent Bangladesh in an upcoming bilateral assignment.
The condition attached to the NOC requires Mustafizur to be available for a three-match One Day International series against New Zealand. During that period, he will temporarily leave the IPL to fulfil his national responsibilities. BCB director Nazmul Abedin Fahim explained that the New Zealand series is expected to last approximately eight days and that Mustafizur’s presence is considered vital, particularly against a strong and competitive opposition.

The Bangladesh–New Zealand ODI series is expected to take place in March or April, although the exact dates have yet to be finalised. Despite the brief interruption, Mustafizur is likely to miss only a small portion of the tournament and remain available for the majority of Kolkata Knight Riders’ matches.
