Shahjalal Airport Elevates Service and Transparency

Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport has recently witnessed significant advancements in passenger services and baggage management, positioning itself as a more efficient and transparent hub for both domestic and international travellers. Through infrastructure upgrades, strengthened security measures, and technology-driven operational improvements, passenger inconvenience has markedly decreased.

Airport authorities report that check-in and immigration processes are now considerably faster. The introduction of modern scanning equipment, an increase in counter numbers, and strategic staff redeployment have streamlined passenger movement. Enhanced surveillance and automated security systems have further bolstered safety and efficiency.

Baggage handling has seen notable improvements as well. Delivery times have shortened, while complaints regarding lost luggage have declined. The airport has also prioritised cleanliness, expanded seating facilities, and implemented eco-friendly initiatives to enhance the overall passenger experience.

Abul Bashar, a Bangladeshi expatriate returning from Saudi Arabia, remarked, “Previously, we had to wait in long lines, but now the waiting time has decreased. Digital signage and improved information desks make it easy to access necessary details. The expansion of body-worn cameras has given me a sense of reassurance. This will meet the long-standing expectations of expatriates.”

K M Abu Nowsad, Executive Magistrate of the Civil Aviation Authority, emphasised the role of teamwork in service improvement, stating, “Through collective effort and dedication, even higher service standards are achievable. Passengers can report any issues, suggestions, or complaints via our 13600 hotline.”

Boshra Islam, General Manager (Public Relations) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, noted that the use of body-worn cameras ensures transparency and accountability in baggage handling, safeguarding passenger property while making it easier to identify responsible personnel or stations.

Group Captain S M Ragib Samad, Executive Director of Shahjalal International Airport, added, “Biman Bangladesh Airlines has long utilised body-worn cameras. Recently, this initiative has been expanded across all airlines’ baggage operations. Step-by-step improvements are being implemented to align with international standards.”
