The body of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is being transported from her Gulshan residence to Manik Mia Avenue for the funeral prayers, draped in the national flag. This marks the final journey of one of Bangladesh’s most prominent political figures.

At precisely 11:04 am on Wednesday, the funeral procession departed from 196 Gulshan Avenue, the residence of Khaleda Zia, led by a fleet of vehicles that includes a red and green coloured bus, symbolising the national colours of Bangladesh.

Accompanying the convoy are senior members of Khaleda Zia’s family, including her son, Tarique Rahman, his wife Zubaida Rahman, daughter Zaima Rahman, and the spouse of her younger brother Arafat Rahman Coco. BNP Standing Committee members and other close relatives are also part of the procession, paying their respects during this solemn journey.

Following the funeral prayers, Khaleda Zia will be laid to rest beside her late husband and former President Ziaur Rahman, in a burial that is expected to draw thousands of mourners.

From early morning, supporters of the BNP and members of the public have begun assembling along Manik Mia Avenue in large numbers to participate in the final rites.
