Residents of Dhaka and its surrounding areas can expect a gradual reduction in fog after this morning, accompanied by a slight increase in daytime temperatures, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD). The forecast, issued at 7:00 am on Tuesday, 6 January, covers the next six hours.
During the first half of the day, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy, while the weather will largely stay dry. Light to moderate fog may persist during the early hours of the morning. Winds are predicted to blow from the northwest or north at a speed of 5 to 10 kilometres per hour. These conditions are expected to contribute to a modest rise in daytime temperatures.
According to official observations, at 6:00 am today, Dhaka recorded a temperature of 13.5°C with relative humidity at 80 per cent. The city’s minimum temperature so far has been 13.3°C. On Monday, the maximum temperature in Dhaka reached 18.8°C. There was no rainfall recorded in the capital over the past 24 hours.

BMD further predicts that, across the country, weather is likely to remain dry with intermittent partly cloudy skies until 6:00 pm today. Moderate to dense fog may form from midnight to the early morning and could persist in some areas until midday. The dense fog may temporarily disrupt air travel, inland waterway transport, and road traffic in affected regions.
Residents are advised to exercise caution during early morning travel and remain updated with real-time weather alerts. With improving visibility expected later in the day, commuters and outdoor enthusiasts can anticipate slightly warmer and clearer conditions in Dhaka and neighbouring districts.
