In a tragic incident in Dhaka’s Keraniganj area, a 60-year-old security guard, Mohammad Ahmed Dewan, lost his life after being stabbed by robbers while on his way to work from home. Ahmed Dewan, a resident of South Pangao, Keraniganj, was the son of Nasur Uddin Dewan. He had served as a security guard with Hawk Dog Yard for many years and was known for his dedication to his profession. He is survived by one son and two daughters.
The horrifying attack took place on Wednesday, 14 January, at approximately 5:30 a.m. Dewan’s son-in-law, Pintu, described the event: “As usual, he left home early for duty, but a group of assailants blocked his path. During an attempt to resist the robbery, he was stabbed in the abdomen, after which the perpetrators fled the scene.”
Dewan was promptly rescued by his family and neighbours and rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead by doctors at around 9:30 a.m.. Mohammad Faruk, officer in charge of the hospital police camp, confirmed the death, stating, “The deceased’s body has been placed in the morgue, and the matter has been reported to the relevant police station.”
Family members and locals recounted that Dewan’s immediate relatives reacted swiftly upon learning of the attack, ensuring he received urgent medical attention. Sadly, the injuries proved fatal before medical intervention could save him.
