According to local witnesses, a group of vigilant residents cornered thirty-eight-year-old Md. Sajeeb and detained him following mounting local tensions. Recognising the potential for a volatile situation, community members chose to alert local police patrols rather than allow the confrontation to escalate further, ensuring the suspect was safely surrendered to the authorities.

The detained individual serves as the president of Ward No. 7 for the Swechchhasebak League unit within Siddhirganj. He is a resident of the Kadamtali Borodighi Par locality and is the son of Md. Yusuf Ali, also locally known as Yusuf Patwary. Following the civilian apprehension, Sub-Inspector Md. Nazmul Islam of Siddhirganj Police Station rushed to the scene with a response unit, took custody of Sajeeb, and escorted him back to the police station for official questioning.

Mohammad Emdadul Haque, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Siddhirganj Police Station, confirmed the sequence of events to the media. He stated that local residents intercepted the political activist during the night and cooperated with law enforcement by transferring him directly into police custody. Following initial processing at the precinct, Sajeeb was formally arrested in connection with an active criminal case filed over the violent suppression of the historic anti-discrimination student protests. After completing necessary administrative and legal formalities, police transported him under secure escort to the local court on Monday afternoon. Law enforcement agencies across the region have maintained heightened vigilance, tracking down figures linked to past political unrest as part of ongoing judicial proceedings.
