A young man identified by fingerprints on severed hands and feet wrapped in polythene

Chittagong police have recovered two hands and two feet from the Bayezid area, in a chilling discovery that has shocked the local community. The limbs were found wrapped in plastic in the Shahidnagar area under Bayezid Bostami Police Station late on Thursday night. Investigators noted that the arteries of the recovered hands and feet had been deliberately severed.

Preliminary forensic examinations have identified the fingerprints on the recovered hands as belonging to a young man from Raufzan, Chittagong. According to police, both of the victim’s arms were amputated from the elbow down, while both legs were cut from the knees. Despite the recovery of the limbs, the rest of the victim’s body had not yet been located as of 10:00 am on Friday.

Speaking to Prothom Alo, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bayezid Bostami Police Station, Jahedul Kabir, confirmed that the search for the remainder of the body is ongoing. “We are continuing our efforts to recover the victim’s body. Investigations are underway to identify those responsible. We hope to provide a detailed update by this afternoon,” he stated.

Authorities are treating the case as a homicide and have formed a special investigation team to explore all possible leads. Forensic experts are expected to carry out further tests on the recovered limbs to determine the precise time and cause of death, as well as any clues that may lead to the perpetrators.

Local residents expressed deep concern and fear following the discovery, calling for swift action by law enforcement to prevent further incidents. Police have increased patrols in the area and are appealing to the public for any information related to the case.
