11-Year-Old Sets Guinness Record With Pindalu

At just 11 years old, Caleb Hunter from Wisconsin, USA, has left the world astounded with his extraordinary dexterity. The young prodigy recently set a Guinness World Record by using a specialised juggling device called a pindalu to spin a ball 51 times in just 30 seconds. The achievement has been officially recognised, with Guinness World Records awarding Caleb a certificate of accomplishment.

Juggling, the art of keeping two or more objects in motion through the air using only one’s hands, requires both precision and agility. The central principle lies in preventing objects from touching the ground while maintaining a continuous, rhythmic cycle of tossing and catching. Caleb’s feat, however, introduces a modern twist: the pindalu, a U-shaped plastic tube designed to elevate the challenge of traditional juggling.

Unlike conventional juggling, where balls are caught directly in the hands, the pindalu requires the performer to guide the ball through one end of the tube and catch it as it exits the other. This adds a layer of complexity, demanding sharp hand-eye coordination and fine motor control. The device transforms a simple juggling routine into a rapid, skill-intensive exercise that tests both speed and precision.

Caleb achieved this record in the under-16 category. In an interview with UPI, he revealed that setting the record was far from easy. “I had to train for hours each day. Often, the ball would drop before the 30 seconds were up. But when I finally set the record, the timing was perfect—the ball dropped exactly at the 30-second mark,” he explained.

Remarkably, Caleb attributes much of his inspiration to his father, who himself once held a Guinness World Record. Caleb’s father cycled across six states in just 24 hours to set his record, a feat that instilled in Caleb a desire to follow in his footsteps. “Even though someone later broke my father’s record, I have dreamed since childhood of achieving my own world record, just like him,” Caleb said.

The young juggler’s record not only highlights his exceptional talent but also showcases the growing popularity of innovative juggling techniques like the pindalu, which challenge performers to refine their speed, accuracy, and dexterity.
