Kamrunnahar Kali, one of Bangladesh’s leading shooters, has been suspended from all shooting activities for a period of one year, following a previous temporary suspension imposed on 1 January by the Bangladesh Shooting Sports Federation (BSSF). The initial suspension was reportedly due to alleged violations of the national team camp’s code of conduct.
Just over a month after the temporary suspension, the Federation has escalated its disciplinary measures, citing repeated misconduct. On Tuesday, the Federation officially notified Kali’s employer, the Bangladesh Navy, of the one-year ban through a formal letter. The decision has also been communicated to the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA).
Details of the Disciplinary Action
The letter, signed by BSSF Secretary General Ferdous Ara Khanam, outlined the reasons for the suspension. According to the Federation, Kali breached seven provisions of the national training camp’s code of conduct. In addition, the letter cited a serious incident at the BSSF office on 25 January, during which police officers present for an official investigation witnessed Kali displaying aggressive, threatening, and offensive behaviour towards the Secretary General, Executive Committee members, and other staff.
The Federation noted that these actions “seriously undermined the discipline, safety, and institutional dignity of the Federation” and “contributed to an overall deterioration of law and order within the organisation.” The one-year suspension is implemented in accordance with Articles 16.20 and 16.21 of the BSSF constitution.

Background Context
Kali had previously spoken publicly about alleged irregularities and sexual harassment involving BSSF Joint Secretary GM Haider, raising concerns alongside a few other national shooters. However, the official suspension notice does not reference these allegations, focusing solely on breaches of conduct within the Federation.
This suspension has sent shockwaves through Bangladesh’s shooting community, as Kali has been considered one of the nation’s top shooters and a key member of the national team. The Federation’s decisive action highlights a firm stance on discipline and institutional integrity, underscoring the serious consequences of misconduct even among elite athletes.
