In Gabtoli Upazila, Bogura, a schoolboy, Shaadin Islam (17), has died while receiving treatment at Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College on Tuesday night at 10 pm, after being injured in a clash over poultry theft. Another person had already been killed in the same incident, leaving the area tense and tense.
The deceased, Shaadin Islam, was a tenth-grade student at Ramchandrapur High School and College. On May 9, during the same dispute, Shaadin’s cousin and rival group member Tarikul Islam Bhutto (50) was fatally attacked with sharp weapons.
According to local sources, the conflict began in May this year in Kittania village, Durgahat, over the theft of 42 chickens. Initial disputes arose between poultry farm owners Jahurul and Khairul and Shaadin’s supporters, followed by legal cases and growing tensions. Recently, Shaadin and his associates severely injured Khairul and his two brothers. In retaliation, on May 9, Khairul and his supporters attacked Shaadin with sharp weapons.
That evening, Bhutto was returning home by van from Ramchandrapur market. Shaadin’s supporters found him alone at Kirtania market and killed him. Shaadin Islam’s family is currently in hiding due to Bhutto’s murder case. However, the family claims that the clashes were not only over poultry theft but also stemmed from an old land dispute, resulting in two fatalities.
Officer-in-Charge of Bogura DB Police, Iqbal Bahar, stated that Shaadin Islam’s body has been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy. After the post-mortem, the body will be handed over to the family, and legal action will be taken based on the complaint.
