Australia Name T20 World Cup Squad

The Australia women’s cricket team have announced their 15-member squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to begin on 12 June in England. The squad includes a blend of experienced internationals and emerging players, with 20-year-old fast bowler Lucy Hamilton selected despite having played only one international T20 match.

The squad is led by captain Sophie Molineux. Several changes have been made from the group that toured the Caribbean in March, most notably the return of experienced batter Grace Harris and all-rounder Annabel Sutherland. In contrast, Darcy Brown has been left out of the squad.

Hamilton’s inclusion is a key talking point. She made her international debut in March during Tests and One Day Internationals against India and has so far played only a single T20 international, against the West Indies. Despite her limited experience at the format, she has been selected as part of Australia’s pace-bowling options.

Australia’s bowling unit features a strong mix of pace and spin. The pace attack includes Ellyse Perry, Megan Schutt, Kim Garth, and Hamilton. The spin department will be led by captain Molineux and includes Alana King, Ashleigh Gardner, and Georgia Wareham. Gardner and Tahlia McGrath will serve as vice-captains.

The batting and wicketkeeping resources include Beth Mooney, Phoebe Litchfield, Georgia Voll, and Nicola Carey. All-round depth is further strengthened by the presence of experienced players across multiple disciplines.

The travelling reserve for the tournament is Tahlia Wilson.
