In a decisive move against armed insurgency, the Bangladesh Army successfully conducted an operation today at 5:00 pm in Murang Bazaar, Roangchhari Upazila, Bandarban, targeting the JSS (Main) armed terrorist group. The operation was meticulously planned based on precise intelligence, enabling the forces to intercept the militants during an attempt to collect illegal extortion money.
According to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the terrorists attempted to flee as the operation commenced and fired upon the army patrol team. The soldiers promptly established a defensive position and returned fire. Initially, the militants sought refuge in a local schoolroom but ultimately abandoned the location and escaped.
During the ensuing search of the area, the army apprehended a key armed insurgent, identified as Hlamongnu Marma, who was wounded in the encounter and found in possession of firearms and ammunition. With police assistance, he was immediately transported to Bandarban Sadar Hospital for emergency treatment.
