The Bangladesh Army has announced a series of significant high-level appointments and transfers across several key positions, signalling a strategic realignment of senior leadership. The changes, which were officially issued on Thursday by Army Headquarters, affect roles including Quarter Master General (QMG), Adjutant General (AG), National Defence College (NDC), Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), and various General Officer Commanding (GOC) positions within logistic and infantry divisions.
According to sources at the Ministry of Defence, the reshuffle aims to strengthen operational leadership, ensure effective utilisation of senior officers’ experience, and introduce new perspectives in strategic and administrative functions. These appointments follow a previous set of transfers announced last Sunday, further reflecting a comprehensive review of the Army’s top command structure.
Key changes include the transfer of Lieutenant General Md Foyzur Rahman, who had been serving as QMG, to the post of Commandant at the National Defence College (NDC). In turn, Lieutenant General Mohammad Shahinul Haque, previously the Commandant of NDC, has been appointed the new Quarter Master General.
Meanwhile, Major General Hosain Al Morshed, formerly General Officer Commanding of the 19th Infantry Division, has been appointed as Adjutant General. Major General Md Hakimuzzaman, previously serving as AG, has been transferred to MIST as Commandant, while the current MIST Commandant, Major General Md Nasim Parvez, has been assigned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on deputation.
Additionally, Major General Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, previously GOC of the 66th Infantry Division, has been assigned as GOC of the Logistic Area, succeeding Major General Md Mostagausur Rahman Khan, who is retiring in the usual course.
Further appointments announced last Sunday include Lieutenant General Md Mainur Rahman, who has moved from Army Training and Doctrine Command (ARTDOC) to become the Chief of General Staff (CGS) at Army Headquarters. Similarly, Major General Mir Mushfiqur Rahman, GOC of the 24th Infantry Division, has been promoted to Lieutenant General and appointed Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division. Lieutenant General SM Kamrul Hasan, previously PSO, has been posted as Ambassador to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
