Bangladesh Army Leadership Reshuffle: Shahinul, Foyzur Appointed

The Bangladesh Army has announced a series of significant high-level appointments and transfers across several key positions, signalling a strategic realignment of senior leadership. The changes, which were officially issued on Thursday by Army Headquarters, affect roles including Quarter Master General (QMG), Adjutant General (AG), National Defence College (NDC), Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), and various General Officer Commanding (GOC) positions within logistic and infantry divisions.

According to sources at the Ministry of Defence, the reshuffle aims to strengthen operational leadership, ensure effective utilisation of senior officers’ experience, and introduce new perspectives in strategic and administrative functions. These appointments follow a previous set of transfers announced last Sunday, further reflecting a comprehensive review of the Army’s top command structure.

Key changes include the transfer of Lieutenant General Md Foyzur Rahman, who had been serving as QMG, to the post of Commandant at the National Defence College (NDC). In turn, Lieutenant General Mohammad Shahinul Haque, previously the Commandant of NDC, has been appointed the new Quarter Master General.

Similarly, Major General Mir Mushfiqur Rahman, GOC of the 24th Infantry Division, has been promoted to Lieutenant General and appointed Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division.
