The English-language Bangladeshi film Dot, based on real incidents of human trafficking, is set to hit cinemas across the United States. Producer Barua Monojit Dhiman has confirmed that the film will premiere on 7 November at the AMC Universal Studios in California. Following its debut, the film will be screened in an additional 15 states across the country.
Directed by Barua Sunanda Kankan, Dot features performances by Barua Monojit Dhiman, Pari, Rajibul Islam, Sonia Parvin Shapla, Mamun, Mostafizur Rahman, Katha Chowdhury, Kamrul Islam, Masud Chowdhury, Tarikul Islam Tarek, Abdul Barik Mukul, Sandy Kumar, and Misty Moni, among others.
The story unfolds around the lives, love, and struggles of people living along riverine regions. The screenplay was written by Imon Barua, who described the project as “a theoretical film that portrays the harsh reality of how simple, rural people from river-adjacent areas fall prey to human traffickers and face devastating consequences.”
