In a decisive outcome of the 13th National Parliamentary Elections, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has emerged victorious in all five constituencies of Dhaka district. The results were officially announced on Thursday by Dhaka’s Returning Officer and District Commissioner, Md. Rezaul Karim.
The election saw BNP candidates, representing the party’s iconic “Sheaf of Paddy” symbol, securing substantial victories over their nearest rivals, primarily from Jamaat-e-Islami and the National Citizens’ Party (NCP). Voter turnout and the margin of victory highlighted the party’s stronghold in the capital’s districts, reinforcing its political influence ahead of the new parliamentary term.
The detailed constituency-wise results are as follows:
| Constituency | BNP Candidate | Votes Secured | Nearest Rival | Rival’s Votes | Victory Margin |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|

| Dhaka-19 | Dewan Mohammad Salauddin | 190,976 | Dilshana Parul (NCP) | 125,283 | 65,693 |
| Dhaka-20 | Md. Tamiz Uddin | 162,504 | Nabila Tasnim (NCP) | 57,787 | 104,717 |
Among the standout results, Md. Tamiz Uddin’s victory in Dhaka-20 was particularly commanding, with a margin exceeding 104,000 votes, indicating a substantial mandate from the electorate. Similarly, Dewan Mohammad Salauddin of Dhaka-19 also recorded a comfortable win over the NCP candidate, securing nearly 191,000 votes.
Khondokar Abu Ashfaq’s triumph in Dhaka-1 with 173,781 votes and Md. Amanullah Aman’s win in Dhaka-2 with 163,793 votes further underscored the BNP’s consolidation across central constituencies, particularly against Jamaat-e-Islami opponents who trailed by significant margins.
These victories mark a clean sweep for BNP in Dhaka district, reflecting a strong voter preference and signalling potential strategic advantages for the party in national politics. Analysts suggest that the party’s focus on urban issues and grassroots campaigning may have contributed to its dominant performance in the capital’s constituencies.
As the BNP consolidates its position in Dhaka, attention now turns to how this electoral success will influence parliamentary dynamics and policy priorities in the forthcoming session.
