Bogura Woman Allegedly Assaulted Over Ration Card

Bogura, 2 February 2026 – A 26-year-old housewife in Dhunot Upazila, Bogura, has lodged a formal complaint alleging that she was sexually assaulted by a local pickup driver, identified as Tutul Sarkar Titu, 45, after being lured with promises of obtaining a government ration card.

The victim filed the case at Dhunot Police Station on Monday, 2 February. Sub-Inspector Harunur Rashid Sardar, the investigating officer, confirmed that preliminary inquiries have substantiated the complaint and that efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect.

Incident Details

According to the police report, Tutul Sarkar Titu, a resident of Sultan Hata village in Chikashi Union and the son of Dudu Sarkar, approached the woman under the pretext of assisting her with acquiring a government ration card. He allegedly used this promise to establish contact and gain her trust.

On 25 January, during the afternoon, Titu took the woman to the Upazila Parishad office, claiming he would facilitate her ration card application. She was kept waiting for several hours under various pretexts. Due to the absence of the official responsible for issuing the cards, the process could not be completed. Titu later offered to escort her back to her husband’s home.

However, around 7:30 pm that evening, near Sultan Hata Government Primary School, the suspect allegedly assaulted the woman in a cornfield.
