In its statement, the BCB emphasised:
“The BPL Governing Council has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a competitive and engaging 12th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League, set to begin on 26 December 2025 in Sylhet. Preparations are underway to ensure a safe and orderly environment for players, match officials, spectators, and all stakeholders involved in the tournament. The overall readiness of participating teams and personnel is also being closely monitored.”
The press release further noted:
“In line with current government directives regarding public gatherings, and to ensure maximum safety, the BPL Governing Council has decided that no large-scale events or opening ceremonies will take place this year.”
BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul acknowledged the decision, stating:
“We may not hold the opening ceremony. Given the overall situation in the country and safety considerations, our priority is to conduct the cricket matches smoothly. All our focus is on ensuring the tournament proceeds successfully, with cricket itself remaining the central focus.”
