The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has unveiled a fresh performance-based reward initiative, continuing its recent trend of enhancing player incentives with high-value prizes to boost motivation during international assignments. Under the leadership of president Tamim Iqbal, the board has confirmed that a luxury car will be awarded to the most valuable Bangladesh player in the upcoming series against Australia.
The announcement follows earlier incentive schemes introduced during recent home series, where motorcycles were presented to standout performers. The latest initiative, backed by automotive brand Chery, marks an escalation in the scale of rewards, reflecting what officials describe as renewed commercial confidence in Bangladesh cricket.
The formal agreement between the Bangladesh Cricket Board and Chery was signed at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Speaking at the ceremony, Tamim Iqbal emphasised the symbolic and motivational value of such partnerships, noting that the involvement of international brands signals a positive shift in perception around Bangladesh cricket’s marketability and organisational stability.
He also highlighted that similar reward-based initiatives had not been seen for nearly two decades, recalling that the last comparable luxury prize was awarded during Bangladesh’s early Test victories, when former cricketer Nafis Iqbal received a special award. According to him, the return of such sponsorship-driven incentives represents a welcome revival of corporate engagement in the sport.
Tamim further stated that the introduction of brands like Chery reflects growing commercial interest, particularly after a period in which the board’s public image faced challenges. He described the recent influx of sponsorships as a “constructive and encouraging development” for the national team environment.
Australia Series Schedule
The upcoming series between Bangladesh and Australia will consist of three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). The ODI matches will take place in Mirpur, while the T20I leg will be hosted in Chattogram.
| Format | Dates | Venue | Number of Matches |
|---|---|---|---|
| ODI | 9, 11, 14 June | Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium | 3 |
| T20I | 17, 19, 21 June | Chattogram | 3 |
The BCB expects the dual-format series to draw significant local interest, with the added incentive of high-value individual rewards expected to intensify competition within the squad. Officials believe such initiatives will not only enhance player performance but also strengthen commercial ties that could benefit future international fixtures.
