Collaboration with Bangladesh-India on mutual interests to continue: Speaker, Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS), today referred to India as one of Bangladesh’s most significant allies and said that the two nations’ cooperation on issues of mutual interest will continue in the days to come. While receiving a courtesy call at the parliament building from an Assamese parliamentary delegation led by the Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, Biswajit Daimary, she made the remarks.

In attendance were, among others, JS deputy speaker Shamsul Haque Tuku, Chief Whip Noor-E Alam Chowdhury, Whips Md Atiur Rahman Atiq, Iqbalur Rahim, and KM Abdus Salam, Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat. The long-standing good relations between Bangladesh and India, the growth of trade, information and communication technology, investment, and the economic development of the two neighbors were just a few of the topics covered during the meeting.

Dr. Shirin, Speaker of the Bangladeshi Parliament, accepted Biswajit Daimary’s invitation to visit the Assam Legislative Assembly and promised to do so at a convenient moment. The Assam legislative team previously paid a visit to the Bangladesh National Parliament, where they later took in a great cultural event. Senior members of the Parliament Secretariat and high-ranking representatives from the two nations were also present.
