A tragic workplace accident at Hock Food Industries Limited in Tongi has claimed the life of a young employee, highlighting concerns over industrial safety practices. The deceased, Golam Rabbi, aged 18, was the son of Md. Mamun Mia from Gurgullar Mor, Turag, Dhaka.
Police have arrested Robin Mia, also 18, in connection with the incident. According to authorities, the accident occurred on Saturday afternoon when Robin, while operating an air compressor, inadvertently discharged air through Rabbi’s clothing, leaving him critically injured. Rabbi was immediately rushed to United Hospital in Dhaka, but despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries early on Sunday morning.
Following the incident, the police recovered Rabbi’s body, thoroughly documented the scene, and sent it to Gaziipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Md. Wahiduzzaman, Officer-in-Charge of Tongi East Police Station, confirmed the arrest of Robin Mia and stated that an unnatural death case has been registered in connection with the incident.
