The family of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia is preparing to transfer her to London as soon as her health shows even slight improvement, according to Mahdi Amin, adviser to BNP Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman. He stated that although Khaleda Zia is currently receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, her medical care is being closely coordinated by both local and international specialists. From London, Tarique Rahman, his wife, and Khaleda Zia’s personal physician Dr Zubaida Rahman are maintaining constant communication with the Dhaka medical team, providing guidance and supervision on every step of her treatment.
Mahdi Amin emphasized the critical role of Dr Zubaida Rahman, who serves on the medical board overseeing Khaleda Zia’s care. She coordinates with experts both within Bangladesh and abroad to ensure a seamless treatment process. Amin also noted that Tarique Rahman is personally monitoring all aspects of her care to prevent any delays or gaps in treatment.
Due to the risk of infections in the CCU, visits are strictly limited. Despite the overwhelming concern from BNP leaders and activists who have attempted to see her daily, no one is permitted to enter the unit. Supporters are instead expressing their prayers and affection from a safe distance, respecting the medical protocols in place.
Mahdi Amin revealed that plans are underway to move Khaleda Zia to London, where she received treatment for four months earlier this year and experienced significant improvement.
