Fatal Motorcycle Collision Claims Two Lives in Tangail

A tragic road traffic accident in the heart of Tangail municipality has resulted in the untimely deaths of two young men. The incident occurred late on Friday night, 13 February 2026, when a motorcycle lost control and collided with a roadside wall in the Bottala area.

Circumstances of the Accident

The victims have been identified as Swadhin and Fahim, both residents of the Chhotokalibari district within the town. According to local police reports, the two youths were travelling home from the town centre on a motorcycle at approximately 11:00 pm.

As they navigated the Bottala sector, the rider apparently lost control of the vehicle. The motorcycle veered off the road and struck a brick wall with significant force, throwing both occupants onto the pavement. The impact was severe enough to alert nearby residents, who rushed to the scene to provide assistance.

Medical Response and Fatalities

Despite the rapid intervention of local bystanders who transported the critically injured pair to Tangail General Hospital, medical efforts proved futile.

In-charge of the Tangail General Hospital police box, Alamgir Hossain, confirmed the fatalities to the press. He noted that upon arrival at the emergency department, the duty doctors conducted an immediate assessment but were forced to pronounce both men dead on arrival. A Growing Concern for Road Safety

This latest tragedy highlights a worrying trend regarding motorcycle safety in urban areas late at night. Local authorities often cite excessive speed, poor visibility, or lack of protective headgear as contributing factors in such fatal “single-vehicle” collisions.

Following the incident, a somber atmosphere has descended upon the Chhotokalibari neighbourhood as the families of the deceased prepare for their final rites. Police have initiated an inquiry into whether mechanical failure or road conditions played a role in the loss of control.
