Five Fire Service Units Tackle Gazipur Factory Blaze

A major fire has broken out at the Matrix Style garment factory, located near Maleker Bari in the Digirchala area of Gazipur metropolis. The blaze, which erupted on Saturday morning, prompted a rapid deployment of emergency responders. Five firefighting units from the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence were dispatched to the scene and are actively working to bring the situation under control.

The incident was officially confirmed by Azizul Haq, the duty officer at the Bhogra Fire Service and Civil Defence station. He stated that upon receiving intelligence regarding the outbreak, five units from the Bhogra Bypass Fire Service Station were mobilised immediately to the industrial site to launch a containment operation. The ongoing firefighting and rescue efforts are being directed under the personal leadership of Fire Service and Civil Defence In-charge Hiron Miah.

Outbreak Timeline and Initial Containment Efforts

Providing details on the chronology of the emergency response, Duty Officer Azizul Haq specified the exact time the alert was logged by the department.

“We received information regarding the outbreak of the fire at 10:05 am,” Haq stated. “Our personnel arrived at the location shortly thereafter and are striving to bring the flames under control. However, according to the latest updates received, the fire has not yet been contained.”

According to an eyewitness at the scene, plumes of thick black smoke and visible flames were suddenly observed emanating from the sixth floor of the multi-storey factory building. The fire spread rapidly across the floor within a brief window of time. Intially, factory workers and local residents attempted to douse the flames using localized first-aid firefighting equipment. However, as the intensity of the thermal radiation and the size of the blaze escalated beyond their capacity, emergency services were urgently summoned.

Current Investigation and Casualty Status

As the containment operation remains active, key details regarding the structural impact and the origin of the emergency cannot yet be verified. Authorities have noted that the definitive cause of the fire and the monetary extent of the structural and material damage are yet to be determined. Furthermore, no official data or reports concerning injuries, fatalities, or trapped personnel have been confirmed by factory management or medical responders at this stage of the operation.
