Four individuals have been arrested by police in connection with the murder of e-bike driver Nazmul Molla in Barishal. Following the arrests, a section of local residents allegedly set fire to the accused persons’ residential house, which was subsequently burned down.
According to police, the arrests were made on Wednesday morning from the Harinafulia area under Ward No. 26 of the city. The incident has drawn attention due to both the homicide investigation and the subsequent arson at the suspects’ residence.

Police confirmed that all four individuals were taken into custody in connection with the killing of Nazmul Molla. Another accused, identified as Imran, remains absconding.
Nazmul Molla, aged 22, was the son of Abdur Rashid Molla and a resident of the Harinafulia–Jagua area under Ward No. 26 of Barishal city. His body was recovered by police on Monday afternoon from the Temoha area near the Kalizira River. Following the recovery, his father lodged a murder case at the Airport Police Station.
Acting on the case, law enforcement officers conducted an operation and arrested the four suspects the following Wednesday morning. Police stated that interrogation of the arrested individuals is ongoing, while efforts continue to apprehend the remaining accused.
Barishal Kotwali Model Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge, Al Mamunulul Islam, stated that police received information that a house belonging to the accused had been set on fire. However, due to the distance, the fire service and police were unable to reach the location before the structure was completely burnt.
In the aftermath of the arrests, local residents reportedly reacted to the development, and the fire incident occurred shortly after news of the detentions spread in the area. Authorities have not provided further details regarding those responsible for the arson but confirmed that an investigation is ongoing and legal measures will be taken based on findings.
The victim’s father, Abdur Rashid Molla, alleged that the arrested individuals and their associates were involved in his son’s killing. He stated that he seeks justice through legal channels and has requested proper judicial proceedings.
Police officials from Airport Police Station, including Officer-in-Charge Mizanur Rahman, confirmed that the detained suspects are being questioned and that operations are underway to arrest the absconding accused. Authorities have reiterated that the investigation is ongoing and that all individuals linked to the case will be brought under legal scrutiny.
