SINGAPORE — FWD Insurance Singapore has launched FWD MultiCover CI, a new critical illness plan engineered to provide continuous payouts for multiple claims rather than terminating after an initial diagnosis.
The launch aligns with improving health outcomes in Singapore, where national health statistics show five-year cancer survival rates grew from 53% (2008–2012) to 61% (2019–2023). During the same period, overall cancer mortality fell from 91 to 72 deaths per 100,000 individuals. Because advanced treatments allow patients to live longer following a diagnosis, the policy is structured to cushion against long-term income loss, ongoing caregiving costs, and recurring medical expenses.
“For many families, the financial impact does not end with the first diagnosis,” said Adrian Vincent, Chief Executive Officer of FWD Insurance Singapore. “FWD MultiCover CI was created to reflect the realities of today’s critical illness journeys.”
FWD MultiCover CI provides coverage across 166 medical conditions spanning early, intermediate, and late stages. Subject to category caps, total claim limits can reach up to 900% of the Sum Insured across all available benefits:
Core Critical Illness Benefit: Allows up to 6 claims totaling 600% of the Sum Insured (100% for early/intermediate stages, 200% for late stages), with a 1-year waiting period required between claims.
Booster Benefit: Provides an extra 150% payout per claim for specified late-stage illnesses or recurrences (up to 2 claims / 300% maximum), subject to a 2-year waiting period.
Accelerated Care Option: Gives policyholders facing a late-stage diagnosis the choice to receive an immediate 75% payout upfront in lieu of holding the future booster benefit.
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Benefit: Delivers a two-tiered payout of up to 120% of the Sum Insured for critical hospital admissions, extending coverage even to unlisted severe conditions.
