Hanged Young Man Found in Khilgaon

A tragic discovery was made in the western Nandipara area of Khilgaon, Dhaka, as the lifeless body of 23-year-old Mohammad Parvez was found hanging. According to police and family sources, Parvez was brought in an unconscious state to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at approximately 2:15 am on Tuesday, 16 December. The attending medical staff confirmed his death upon arrival.

Parvez, a resident of Khilgaon Police Station area, West Nandipara, was the son of Mohammad Khairuddin. He was employed at a local tissue company. Family members reported that Parvez had been physically unwell for several days and appeared to be experiencing some mental distress. His behaviour in recent days had become somewhat irritable and restless.

Speaking to the press, Parvez’s cousin, Mohammad Zakaria, explained that on the night of the incident, Parvez told his mother that he was going to sleep and requested not to be disturbed. He then closed the door of his room. After an extended period, when no response came from inside, family members, with assistance from neighbours, forced the door open. They found Parvez hanging from a beam in his room with a scarf around his neck.

He was immediately rescued and rushed to DMCH’s emergency department, where the doctors pronounced him dead.

Inspector Mohammad Faruk, in charge of the DMCH hospital police camp, stated that the body has been sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy. He confirmed that Khilgaon Police Station has been notified, and a formal investigation has commenced to determine the exact circumstances surrounding Parvez’s death.

Family members indicated that Parvez had shown signs of mental strain alongside his physical illness, which may have contributed to the incident. Police emphasised that the official cause of death would be confirmed only after the autopsy report is completed.
