If BNP Comes to Power, People Won’t Need to Travel to Dhaka or Chittagong for Jobs: Amir Khasru

Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, a member of the BNP’s standing committee, has stated that if the BNP forms the government, initiatives will be taken to create rural-based employment, ensuring that people will no longer have to travel to Dhaka or Chittagong for work.

He made the remarks on Monday (10 November) while delivering the keynote address at a seminar titled “Skilled Workforce: The Cornerstone of Nation Building”, held to mark the anniversary of the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) in Kakrail, Dhaka.

Khasru said, “Within one year of BNP coming to power, employment opportunities will be created for one million people. Converting our population into a skilled workforce is essential to meet the challenges of building a new Bangladesh.”

He added, “Without integrating technology and artificial intelligence (AI), it will not be possible to transform our population into a valuable human resource, and sustainable national development will remain unattainable.”

The BNP leader also outlined plans to modernise the IT sector, call centres, nursing, and traditional cottage industries, while providing easy loans to support the branding of locally produced goods.

Khasru further remarked, “Protesting in government offices for services only leads to harassment and corruption. Through information technology, services will be brought directly to the people, reducing both time and financial waste.”

He emphasised, “Policies must be guided by the will of the people, not dictated from Dhaka. BNP’s core objective is to ensure public ownership is accessible to the public. If elected, no mega-projects will be undertaken. Five per cent of the national budget will be allocated to education and healthcare.”

The seminar was presided over by IDEB’s central convener, Engineer Md. Kabir Hossain. Special guests included Dr. Redwan Ahmed, Secretary General of LDP; Ehsanul Mahbub Zobayer, Assistant Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami; Nurul Haq Nur, President of Gana Odhikar Parishad; Mozibur Rahman Bhuiyan Monju, Chairman of AB Party; and Engineer Ashraful Alam, Joint Secretary General of Islami Andolan Bangladesh.

The welcome address was delivered by IDEB Central Secretary Engineer Kazi Sakhawat Hossain, and the keynote paper was presented by Professor Syed Abdul Aziz, Chairman of IDEB’s Education and Training Institute.
