Khaleda Zia Remains in Critical Condition, Says Khokon

Khairul Kabir Khokon, Joint Secretary General of the BNP and President of the Narsingdi District BNP, has stated that Begum Khaleda Zia’s condition is still critical. He said she cannot yet be declared out of danger and remains under close observation in the CCU.

He delivered these remarks on Wednesday (3 December) while speaking as the chief guest at a prayer gathering organised by the Chinishpur Union BNP for the long life and recovery of Begum Khaleda Zia.

Khokon added that accusations have surfaced suggesting an attempt on Begum Khaleda Zia’s life by administering slow poison, allegedly due to envy of her overwhelming popularity. He said the nation stands united with the Zia family and that everyone wishes for her recovery for the sake of the country and the state.

He further stated that people across the country are praying that she lives long enough to see her son assume state power as Prime Minister. He expressed hope that she will also witness the execution of the death sentence issued by the court for crimes against humanity and genocide committed by the fascist government. He added that their collective wish is for her to see the establishment of a government elected directly by the people.

Among those present were Mohsin Hossain Bidyut, Senior Joint General Secretary of the Narsingdi District BNP; Awlad Hossain Molla, the District BNP Sports Secretary; Abdur Rauf Fakir Roni, Secretary for Mass Education; and Rafiqul Islam, Member-Secretary of the Chinishpur Union BNP, among others.

The event concluded with prayers for the swift recovery of Begum Khaleda Zia.
