Khaleda Zia’s London Trip Delayed, Sunday Now Likely

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will not be flown to London today, Friday. Subject to her health condition and approval from the medical board, she is now expected to depart for London on Sunday.

The air ambulance arranged by the Amir of Qatar has not arrived due to a technical problem, causing a postponement in the plan to transport her.

BNP’s media cell announced the update on their verified Facebook page at 10 am today.

According to the Facebook post, the special air ambulance from Qatar had still not reached Dhaka, resulting in a delay in taking the BNP leader to London.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the air ambulance would not land on Friday because of a technical issue and might arrive on Saturday if circumstances allow. He added, ‘If Madam’s physical condition is suitable for the journey and the medical board approves, she will, Insha’Allah, fly to London on the 7th (Sunday).’

Plans to take the critically ill Khaleda Zia abroad for advanced treatment have been under discussion for several days, with her departure initially expected today.

Speaking to a গণমাধ্যম journalist at around 8:30 pm on Thursday, Mirza Fakhrul remarked that Khaleda Zia’s physical condition remained unchanged.

In the meantime, her elder son Tarique Rahman’s wife, Zubaida Rahman, has arrived in Dhaka to accompany her mother-in-law for treatment in London.

Khaleda Zia, BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister, has been receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital for the past 13 days. Her deteriorating condition has raised widespread public concern.

Earlier in January, she travelled to London for advanced treatment, being treated first at a hospital and later at her son Tarique Rahman’s residence. She returned to Bangladesh on 6 May after almost four months and continued receiving treatment both at home and in hospital.
