Kushtia Man Arrested Following Alleged Child Assault

A criminal case has been registered in Kushtia, Bangladesh, following the alleged rape of a ten-year-old child in the municipal area. The sole suspect, 32-year-old Ashadul Islam, was subjected to a physical assault by local residents before being taken into police custody.

Incident and Police Intervention

According to the case statement, the incident transpired on Sunday morning at approximately 10:00 am. It is alleged that the suspect, Ashadul Islam, lured the young victim into a local school building under the pretext of offering food, where the assault subsequently took place.

Upon discovering the incident, members of the local community intercepted and physically assaulted the suspect. Law enforcement officers, alerted to the situation, arrived at the scene to restore order and rescue the individual from the crowd.

Medical and Legal Status

Both the victim and the suspect were transported to Kushtia General Hospital, where they remain admitted under medical care. Kabir Hossain Matubbar, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kushtia Model Police Station, confirmed that the victim’s father formally filed the case at approximately 8:00 pm on Sunday night. The police have officially placed the sole accused under arrest.

Dr Iqbal Hossain, the Residential Medical Officer (RMO) at Kushtia General Hospital, has provided updates regarding the clinical status of both individuals.

“The child has been admitted to the hospital. Her physical condition is currently being monitored, and the necessary medical examinations are being conducted. The accused individual has also been admitted; his condition is serious.”
