BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie has said that those who call for lockdowns and those who distribute tickets to paradise have an internal connection. He stated that situations similar to those in 1986 and 1996 are being recreated. For 172 days, hartals and blockades held people hostage and caused damage to the country. Now, under the name of lockdown, they are showing rallies and meetings using AI. Some of their workers are active secretly. By mixing with this covert politics, incidents such as bomb attacks and arson on vehicles are taking place in the country.
He made these remarks on Saturday (15 November) at a courtyard meeting organised with female voters at the premises of Baralia School in Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila.
Annie said that the NCP is a new political party. In front of their office in Dhaka, one person was caught red-handed. After the arrest, it was found that he was a Shibir activist. This is part of a deep conspiracy against the country. They are trying to obstruct the election and prevent it from taking place. Because according to their calculations, if the election is held, the party of the masses will come to power—if there is an election, the BNP will come, Zia’s party will come, Khaleda Zia will come, Tarique Rahman will come. They cannot accept this. They are involved in covert politics and are conducting conspiratorial activities from abroad as well.
He further said that he wanted to tell that Islamic party to think about rebuilding Bangladesh in a new way. Value the sentiments of the people. Stand beside ordinary people. Do not engage in covert politics. Come to transparent politics. Do not give misinterpretations or spread misinformation. We have fought and struggled against the fascism of Hasina. People have seen the role of everyone on 28 October and 10 December. Many of your senior leaders have been convicted in various ways; some have even mounted the gallows. Considering all these, return to transparent politics. Through transparent voting, whoever the people choose—move forward on the ideals enlightened by the philosophy of our President Ziaur Rahman.
At the event, Bangladesh Football Federation Vice President Wahid Uddin Chowdhury Happy, district BNP member Hafizur Rahman, Nizam Uddin Bhuiyan, Chandraganj Thana BNP President Belal Hossain, General Secretary M. Yusuf Bhuiyan, district Mahila Dal President Sabera Anwar, and General Secretary Fatema Akhter Shimu Bhuiyan were present.
