A 28-year-old man, Asadul Haque, also known by the nickname “Longu Asadul”, was killed in a stabbing incident in the Rayer Bazar area of Dhaka on Wednesday at around midnight. The incident took place in the Sadeq Khan brick kiln area, according to police statements.

Fazlul Karim, Additional Deputy Commissioner of the Tejgaon Division Police, stated on Thursday that Asadul Haque went to the brick kiln area shortly after midnight on Wednesday night accompanied by several associates. A disagreement reportedly developed among the group. During the altercation, he was stabbed and the attackers subsequently left the scene.
After the incident, injured Asadul was taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in Dhaka at approximately 12:45 am. Medical personnel examined him upon arrival and declared him dead.
Police have also reported that a knife was recovered from the deceased’s pocket. However, authorities have not provided further clarification regarding how the weapon came to be in his possession or whether it is connected to the incident.
Asadul Haque was a resident of the Metro Housing area in Mohammadpur, Dhaka. His permanent home was in Gournadi Upazila of Barishal district. His father has been identified as Jalil Sardar.
According to police information, Asadul Haque had multiple cases filed against him at Mohammadpur Police Station, including allegations linked to narcotics and robbery. Officials confirmed that these cases are part of the ongoing background information under review in the investigation.
The Rayer Bazar area, located in western Dhaka, falls under the jurisdiction of the Tejgaon Division Police, which is overseeing the investigation. Authorities have stated that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those involved in the incident. The motive is being examined based on initial accounts provided by witnesses and associates present at the scene.
