Mbappé Wears AI Glasses During Practice

Kylian Mbappé has embraced the technological revolution in football, equipping himself with Meta Vanguard smart glasses powered by artificial intelligence during Real Madrid training sessions. The innovative device is designed to analyse the smallest details of an athlete’s performance, providing immediate feedback on every movement.

The Meta and Oakley collaboration has produced a high-tech device featuring Oakley Prism lenses for optimal visual clarity, a 12-megapixel hands-free camera capable of 3K video capture, and an open-ear speaker system for real-time feedback. Mbappé can track his speed, movement angles, stride rhythm, and foot placement in real time, enabling him to adjust his technique instantly.

Integrated with performance analytics platforms such as Garmin or Strava, the smart glasses deliver instant metrics, giving Mbappé a unique advantage in refining his game. Speaking to Brobai Bel, he explained, “As a competitive athlete, I’m constantly seeking ways to gain an advantage. The technology developed by Meta and Oakley is outstanding, as it elevates both training and performance to a new level.” He emphasised that technology must enhance rather than distract: “The key is to improve while maintaining focus on the game.”

Mbappé has also demonstrated his exceptional form on the international stage. In France’s 4–0 victory against Ukraine, he scored twice, continuing a streak of six consecutive matches with a goal, just one shy of Jean-Pierre Papin’s record. Following the match, the team faced a rigorous travel schedule, flying to Azerbaijan within 12 hours. Injuries prevented Mbappé, Camavinga, and another key player from participating, yet Mbappé remains optimistic. “This is the most talented French team I’ve ever seen. Our potential is limitless. We are not yet at the level of the 2018 or 2022 squads, but we have 100% potential to get there,” he said.
