Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has unveiled a fresh initiative to attract online video creators to its platform. Branded as the “Content Fast Track” programme, the scheme enables popular creators from TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram to earn up to $3,000 per month by producing short-form videos, commonly known as Reels, for Facebook.
To qualify, creators must have at least one million followers on other social media platforms. Selected participants are required to post a minimum of 15 Reels per month, ensuring consistent engagement and fresh content for Meta’s audience.
At present, the programme is limited to creators in the United States and Canada, and payments will be provided for a maximum duration of three months. Those with fewer than one million followers remain eligible, though their potential monthly earnings are capped at $1,000.
Meta emphasised that in 2025, it distributed approximately $3 billion to creators through various monetisation programmes. With Content Fast Track, the company aims to expand its creator base, enhance engagement on Reels, and better compete with rival platforms offering lucrative short-form content opportunities.
However, the initiative has attracted scepticism from industry experts. Jordan Schwarzengerger, manager of the creator group SideMen, described the move as “somewhat desperate” and potentially obligatory. He noted that top creators typically earn significantly more through brand partnerships and YouTube revenues than the scheme offers.
He added, “$3,000 for 15 videos works out to around $200 per video. In many cases, that amount wouldn’t even cover production costs.”
Despite these concerns, creators participating in the programme can also leverage Facebook’s monetisation tools, which calculate earnings based on views and watch time, potentially boosting their income beyond the fixed monthly payment.
